Depends on what you mean by "win".
As far as I could tell, Ruric's goal in life was to get himself killed as quickly as possible, so really, the good Prince throwing himself on Shiro's flashing blades would sort of be a win for him, wouldn't it?
It's a philosophical thing. ^_^

lets match both guys up
Rurik
prince
fought charrs, dwarves and probably some other stuff before dying
weapon FDS! seriously one hit of this and shiro lights on fire running around in circle's >.>
Shiro
evil person
Killed emperor some army people, did that explosion thing before dying
weapon two swords
i'd still put my bet on rurik yust because he'd start with his cheesy line's wich would put shiro asleep then rurik puts on him fire with his fds and he wins

Shiro would win, only because if Shiro came remotly close to death, i would step in and slaughter Rurik myself.

Don't be so judgemental. He might just be a good guy in a rough manner. Then again he could be the living flesh of Grenth, so who knows?
And ya, I think Shiro would destory Rurik with a few quick, well-timed slices. Shiro seems well trained in samurai type swordsmanship, and Rurik seems like he's self taught.

You mean Kendo or Bushido? Or other lines?
Sorry, I love using the word "lines"...it's "styles", I believe, at least that's true in Chinese martial arts.

Neither most likely. I don't know the difference in Japanese style sword fighting anyways.

Shiro is overrated. The bomb thing? Uhm should of used it 5 seconds earlier on the chick. Minus that - only thing Shiro did was beat up on blind women. :|
One chick with eyes wooped his arss in 2 hits. GG
I say Undead Rurik.

Let's assume you were seriously saying that Undead Rurik (level 28) only ALMOST beat you (level 20 we'll say, for Rurik's sake) 1v1. Lol? That would be like losing to a level 12 in random arenas....

Just a tiny lesson in not sounding like a geek... or at least not sounding like an UNEDUCATED geek. ^_^
Kendo isn't a style that would be, is, or ever has been used in actual combat. The "do" in the word tells you it's an "art", or a "sport". It doesn't really have a direct translation. Not an actual fighting style, though.
Bushido isn't a fighting style, either. It's a philosophy. A way of life. It concerns swordsmanship, but has nothing to do with what blow to swing when. It, like Kendo, is Japanese, of course, but also not a fighting style.
If anyone cares, the classic double-sword style of Japan would probably be "Niten Ichi Ryu", which, roughly translated, means "two heavens as one". This style uses a katana and shorter wakazashi, and in no way resembles anything done by Shiro, though. (As a footnote, "shiro" is the Japanese word for "white".)
It's not like game devs have to pass an exam on fighting styles before making cinematics. ^_^
Now, back to the debate on who would kick who's pale behind!
Shiro FTW!

I give my vote to Rurik if he uses Mending (and lets face it, Rurik SHOULD use mending. Hell, Rurik is the mother of all Wamos, the patron saint of Wamos!).

Damn right he should be using Mending... Rurik is the King of Soloing! Sometimes I like to run the older missions just to watch Rurik kick ass, the guy is unstoppable if you throw mending and live vig on him

i think shiro got powerful in the end because in the end, he absorb the 'power' from the emporer that makes him powerful..without that 'power', rurik might pwn shiro..or they might be equal..

granted, this is only the cinematic... but has anyone else noticed that Shiro never spoke AT ALL?
I guess he's the silent type that harbors a grudge...
Back to the OP -- my guess is that Shiro will turn Rurik into an item on that night's shabu shabu menu.
